Lecturer in Migration Studies at IES London

Job Description

Applications are invited from well-qualified university-level lecturers to teach our new multicentre course The Human Right to Migration. This course will be taught to upperclassmen US students at IES Abroad London. We are looking for a motivated, experienced teacher with strong expertise and enthusiasm for the subject matter. This is a multi-disciplinary course and migration specialists from a range of different subject areas, such as human rights, urban studies, development studies, sociology, etc., are invited to apply.

The essential criteria for the post are:

  • A PhD in a directly relevant subject and / or extensive professional experience and a demonstrated reputation in their field (academics from different subject areas are eligible to apply as long as they specialise in migration)
  • Evidence of contribution to the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusivity, esp. in a classroom context, working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate students.
  • Experience of teaching international students.
  • Proven track record of module / course administration.
  • Good grasp of classroom and learning technology.

Desirable criteria are:

  • Experience of teaching U.S. students.
  • Experience of working in a Study Abroad context.
  • A proven track record in conducting high quality independent research, as evidenced by high quality publications in peer reviewed journals.

Details of the number of classes and course scheduling will be communicated with successful shortlisted candidates during their interview. The dates of our Spring semester are: 13th January – 19th April 2025.

We pay a competitive hourly rate here at IES, starting from £90 depending on candidates’ expertise and experience in the field.
