Starting salary from £37,099 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £44,263 per annum.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Psychology to deliver lectures, seminars and carry out teaching-related duties and to support inclusive education, widening access and participation of students from underrepresented & disadvantaged groups.
We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Psychology and Widening Participation Academic Lead who will be based in the School of Psychology.
You will be involved in the School and Faculty-based activities such as teaching, academic advising and management roles, where appropriate. Areas of subject expertise can relate to any area that contributes to the degree programmes delivered in the School.
Alongside School and Faculty-based activities, you will also be an academic champion for Widening Participation in the Faculty of Social Sciences. This aspect of the role is anticipated to take up 0.6 FTE of your working hours, and you will be involved in the development, delivery, and evaluation of initiatives to support and enhance access and widening participation activity across the student lifecycle.
Whilst you will be based in the School of Psychology, you will collaborate with colleagues across the Faculty of Social Sciences to address risks to equality of opportunity.
You must have a first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area and have a PhD (or complete within 6 months of appointment) with experience of undergraduate teaching and student assessment at all levels including coursework, examinations and undergraduate dissertations. Teaching experience at postgraduate level and an interest in relevant enterprise and engagement activities would be advantageous. You will have strong organisational skills and experience of working with, and enthusing, young people, particularly those from disadvantaged or backgrounds under-represented in higher education.
This full-time post is available from 1 July 2024 on an indefinite basis.
