Lecturer in Quantity Surveying at Solent University

This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to join the Built Environment team at Solent University, Southampton and contribute to our expanding portfolio of courses, joining a team of friendly, professional and motivated academics who take pride in delivering excellence in teaching and learning.

We are looking for an outstanding individual with the vision and ability to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, real-world teaching and scholarly practice that places student experience and achievement at its heart.  The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience either in academia or professional practice within the quantity surveying and commercial management areas of construction.  We welcome applications from industry practitioners who wish to contribute to the learning and development of the future of the industry.  The successful candidate will be expected to lead and develop modules within the subject area, as well as be responsible for the assessment and administration of their allocated modules.  Additional duties are further laid out within the job description.

The successful candidate should be confident in the use of I.T., including which would ideally include experience with blended learning and use of virtual learning environments. Experience of project management software such as Microsoft Project or Asta, measurement software such as Bluebeam and ConQuest and Building Information Modelling systems are extremely advantageous.  It is expected that the successful candidate will be a chartered member of a relevant chartered professional body (CIOB and/or RICS) or be able to achieve chartered membership within 6 months of appointment.  Experience of delivering higher built environment apprenticeships and supporting individuals through the chartership process is advantageous.

As a subject area within the Department of Science and Engineering we offer professionally accredited undergraduate courses in BSc (Hons) Construction Management, BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and BA (Hons) Architectural Design and Technology as well as postgraduate courses such as MSc Sustainable Construction Management. We also offer Higher Nationals and Higher Apprenticeships in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Civil Engineering.  The Architecture and Built Environment subject area enjoys an excellent reputation in the sector for providing real world, industry focussed education.
