Opportunity Overview 

We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic new Lecturer to help design, deliver and lead a new undergraduate degree in Sports Journalism at the University of Salford. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to contribute to the continuing success of our Journalism subject area, based at the heart of MediaCity. 

You will have a good professional profile within journalism and excellent knowledge of current trends in sports media, as well as teaching and research experience in Higher Education. The successful candidate will work across a range of modules, build and maintain relationships in the sport and media industries, actively take part in student recruitment activities and carry out other administrative tasks appropriate to the role. You will also work with students across all levels and offer academic and pastoral support. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Act as Programme Leader for our forthcoming undergraduate degree in Sports Journalism 
  • Design and deliver teaching material across Journalism modules, especially within Sports Journalism 
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners in the sport and media industries 
  • Undertake individual and/or collaborative research projects 
  • Act as a personal tutor to a group of students, providing academic and pastoral support
