About the Role:
You will be joining the successful Vision and Hearing/Sensory Sciences team: a leading provider of quality clinical education in Optometry, Ophthalmic Dispensing and Audiology, located in the Faculty of Science and Engineering on our Cambridge campus. We are forward-looking and enthusiastic, with a vision that combines a strong civic commitment to our region with excellence in learning and teaching. We are seeking an experienced and motivated academic practitioner (Dispensing Optician or Optometrist) to contribute to teaching and administration on our BSc Ophthalmic Dispensing course. The prospective candidate will deliver across the teaching and learning portfolio in Ophthalmic Dispensing. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the broad range of the School’s teaching portfolio, in particular our BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing course, professionally accredited by the General Optical Council.
You’ll have a degree or relevant professional qualification, extensive post graduate qualification CPD and/or a higher degree, along with GOC accreditation as a dispensing Optician or Optometrist. Experience in teaching and learning in higher education is desirable, and a track-record of applied practice and networking in the field along with a commitment to CPD. You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively and as part of a team. You’ll be customer focused and will have an enthusiastic and flexible approach. You will also demonstrate the ability and desire to contribute to the School’s knowledge exchange & consulting activities.
