Bath School of Art, Film & Media is seeking an ambitious, talented Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to innovative and inclusive teaching and learning in Film and Television Production with a specialism in studio production and outside broadcasting. Experience as producer and director and an understanding of the television production business is a key requirement, and experience of original scripting and storytelling, including complex stories, would be an advantage.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced academic to contribute to teaching, assessment, and feedback on Level 5 and 6 modules in studio production and outside broadcasting, delivered both on campus and off-site. The role includes curriculum development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement with industry networks, professional bodies, and the wider subject community. You’ll support research and knowledge exchange, enhance the student experience, and ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards. Additional responsibilities include leading BSU’s flagship Iris Productions, mentoring colleagues, and supporting recruitment and promotional activities across the School.
About you
- Significant Industry/sector experience of television production (as practitioner) with strong industry links and contacts
- Ability to lead, teach, and assess television production including studio and OB production on location
- Experience and/or understanding of the television production business
- A good first degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience of university level teaching or demonstrable educational experience of sharing knowledge and engaging learners
- A higher and/or research degree/professional qualification in a relevant discipline
- Experience of interdisciplinary working environments
- Successful track record of raising funds
- Fellowship of the HEA
- Understanding of the changing landscape of the film and television industry

Additional information
- Applicants with less than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment.
- Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6 month probation period.
