Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sports Media Production (Part time) at Bath Spa University

Job Description

Bath School of Art, Film & Media is seeking an ambitious, talented Lecturer with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to innovative teaching and learning in Sports Media Production. Experience of planning & producing live Sports Outside Broadcasts including technical delivery, is a key requirement, and experience of sports photography would be an advantage. 

This is a part time role – 0.75 FTE

About the Role

  • Delivery of teaching in modules on Sports Media Production including classroom-based, off campus, and fieldwork based teaching.
  • Development of modules and the course, including interdisciplinary initiatives, and work with colleagues towards the development of such ideas.
  • To develop links with and contribute to external networks, engage with the subject community and build productive relationships with industrial bodies, professional associations, employers and practitioners as appropriate.
  • To engage in relevant research and scholarly activity in support of the university’s research strategy, to inform and enhance curriculum design and to improve student experience.
  • To ensure that responsibilities identified within internal processes, QAA codes of practice, HEFCE guidelines, etc. are robustly met.
  • To undertake administrative duties associated with the normal planning and operational procedures of the department and the School
  • To seek external funding for this activity and help develop ideas for new revenue streams.
  • To supervise or mentor colleagues with less experience, advising on their personal development.
  • To undertake recruitment, publicity and promotional activities in the interests of the School and University.

  • To carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the post.

About You

Essential

  • Significant Industry/sector experience of sports media production (as practitioner) with strong industry links and contacts
  • Ability to teach sports media production including OB production on location and fieldwork
  • Experience of Radio journalism, sports journalism and presenting
  • A good first degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience of university level teaching or demonstrable educational experience of sharing knowledge and engaging learners

Desirable

  • A higher and/or research degree/professional qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience of writing successful funding proposals/applications
  • Successful track record of raising funds
  • Fellowship of the HEA
  • Understanding of the changing landscape of sports media production

Additional Information

The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay.

Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
