The Department of Civil Engineering and Quantity Surveying is currently seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/ Instructor/Senior Instructor in:

General Requirements:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): Recommended
  • Master’s Degree: Essential
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Essential
  • Ideally minimum of 5 Years of Teaching Experience: Essential
  • Construction Industry Experience: Recommended
  • Membership of a Professional Institute (PI), e.g., ICE, RICS…: Recommended
  • HEA Fellowship: Recommended
  • Commitment to Professionalism and Ethics: Essential
  • Experience in Vocational Education and Construction Trades: Recommended
  • Ability to Manage Modules and Courses: Essential
  • Good Knowledge of the UK Higher Education System: Essential
  • Experience in Personal Tutoring and Pastoral Care: Essential
  • Research Active: Essential  

Specific Requirements:

Specialty/Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach principles and practices of quantity surveying, including measurement techniques, cost estimating, and financial control of construction projects.
  • Guide students in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), material take­offs, and cost plans based on construction drawings and specifications.
  • Develop case studies and exercises based on real-world construction projects to enhance student understanding.
  • Instruct students in pre-contract and post-contract cost management, tender documentation, and contract administration.
  • Train students in the use of quantity surveying software such as CostX or similar tools for measurement and cost estimation.
  • Participate in curriculum development, student assessment, and the continuous improvement of the Quantity Surveying program.
  • Keep updated with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) standards and integrate best practices into the curriculum.
