Job description: Job Description:The Role:Euroclear are seeking a Legal Counsel to join their UK Legal Team. You will be part of a team of nine in the UK and will be part of a larger legal division located across multiple jurisdictions. The UK team is responsible for supporting Euroclear’s UK securities settlement business (Euroclear UK & International) as well as contributing to the activities of the wider Euroclear Group.Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the systemic role of financial market infrastructures in the operation of the UK economy and the legal and regulatory framework supporting this.
- Advise on new product launches and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and advise on new legal and regulatory initiatives that are relevant to the business.
- Answer operational queries from the business or external clients.
- Update contractual documentation.
- Provide legal advice and support to the business and financial crime team on issues relating to AML/KYC issues and UK, US and EU sanctions.
Skills required:
- Qualified solicitor ideally 2+ years PQE.
- A corporate, banking/capital markets, financial services or financial technology background is highly desirable but not essential.
- An interest in the opportunities presented by developments in financial technology and how legal frameworks can be adapted to accommodate this.
- Is highly effective at establishing relationships in a pan-European context with colleagues from multiple legal entities across the Group.
- Able to adapt advice to colleagues of varying levels of seniority and skill sets within the business.
