Our commitment to quality and innovation has earned us a reputation as an industry leader.Role Purpose: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to lead and develop our in-house legal team working closely with the Group Finance Director.As the Legal Counsel, you will be the main point of contact and therefore will have the confidence to work independently within your knowledge and experience. You will play a key strategic and operational role; enhancing current performance across drafting, reviewing and negotiation on contracts and agreements and assisting on all significant business transactions of the Group providing advice on legal and contractual risk whilst building and managing an effective team. Attention to detail and excellent written & verbal communications skills are essential..Key Responsibilities:Legal Risk

  • Provide strategic advice to management on contracts management.
  • Promote and establish a legal risk framework in accordance with legislation.
  • Support the Group Finance Director with projects as required.

Litigation management B2B

  • Provide advice on commercial issues resolving disputes and formal mediations/ADR.

Contract Negotiation

  • Review all material contracts – sales – non sales and employment – terms of business, non-disclosures and end user licences highlighting legal implications.
  • Support procurement & marketing functions with reviewing of draft documentation and drafting non-standard documents/contracts.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Provide advice to compliance officers on regulatory matters.

Team development

  • Provide continuous leadership, supervision, training and development to the Legal team, some of which have training contracts in place.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Legal Counsel role or Commercial Private Practise, preferably with a background as an in-house lawyer within a corporate group.
  • Significant experience of commercial law – debt recovery and litigation.
  • Strong expert knowledge of drafting, reviewing and negating contracts across commercial and corporate environments.
  • High levels of business and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to create and deliver strategies in support of the company’s vision, strategy, and objectives.
  • Have PQE experience reflective of the responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:

  • Essential: Qualified Solicitor entitled to practice in the UK or relevant jurisdiction or equivalent professional qualification
