About the role
Reporting to a Senior Legal Counsel based in the head office, we are seeking a full time Legal Counsel to be part of the established legal and compliance team.(Gloucestershire)
Responsibilities
Review, draft and negotiate contracts with customers, intermediaries, and suppliers, with a particular focus on technology, including software licensing, SaaS, IT outsourcing, research & development, consultancy, confidentiality, agency, OEM, resale, and distribution agreements.
Act as the primary contact for legal queries from the Purchasing team and manage the applicable inbox for supplier contract queries.
Act as the primary contact for legal queries from Sales and Marketing teams in respect of global e-commerce matters.
Advise the Sales and Marketing teams on the commercialisation of software products from a legal perspective.
Support the business with responses to tenders and customer queries.
Review, draft and negotiate data processing agreements, seeking advice from the Privacy Compliance Officer and external Data Protection Officer as required.
Keep up to date on the latest guidance and best practices within the legal technology field (including open source software, AI, intellectual property, privacy, and cyber security).
Work proactively with the business to identify risks and areas for process and compliance improvement.
Assist in implementing and maintaining appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the Group’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Engage with and support other lawyers and compliance colleagues across the Group.
Provide practical and commercial solutions to legal issues.
Conduct legal research as necessary.
About you
For this key role, you will:
Have 2+ years’ experience of technology contract drafting and negotiation.
Be a highly motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail and a “can do” attitude.
Have a good knowledge of intellectual property, and enthusiasm for and understanding of technology and innovation.
Show an ability to prioritise and work under pressure in an evolving and dynamic business environment.
The role will require 2 office based days on a weekly basis.
