The opportunity
Working as a Logistics Operative you can be sure that no two days will ever be the same. This is a high paced role which requires quick thinking and exceptional organisational skills.
Key accountabilities
- Working as part of a logistics team and assisting the Site Management team
- You’ll be responsible for picking, receiving and managing materials within the supply chain
- The warehouse operative will work in a effective and compliant operation across all responsible activities and ensure adherence to all legal, operational and SHE procedures
- You must have good communicative skills both verbally and in written form, showing a good level of numeracy and verbal reasoning
- Organise own work in order to meet agreed timescales and deadlines
- Carry out all work associated with Issue and receipt of materials, plant, tools, equipment and road traffic signs and barriers, via a warehouse management system
- Undertake the verification of stock levels as required
- First point of contact for customer queries and requests. Ability to identify and satisfy internal and external customer needs and work in partnership with customers
- Can marshal loads for dispatch and load vehicles safely and effectively
- Control of process for non- stock & PPE items
- Operate and use mobile plant, mechanical lifting and handling equipment and other equipment properly and safely; ensuring that they are correctly checked, maintained and stored
- Ensure housekeeping and 5s is carried out at stores. Embrace and aim to add value and continuously improve both processes and the overall operation
- Assist and support the Site Management team where necessary, with a view to tactical absence cover
- Working to site & contract specific SHESQ policies and procedures
- Daily, Weekly and monthly reporting non-compliance / site checks to line management
- Undertake routine updating of the warehouse management system
- Site waste management
- On request assist and participate in standby/ call out arrangements and roving stores duties.

- FLT licence
- An understanding of SHE’s policies relating to Logistics activities
- Telehandler/ Combi Lift/ VNA licence
- 2 years experienced within a similar stores/warehouse environment (Desirable)
- To be trained to NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in distribution and warehousing, with a desire to progress to NVQ level 3 (Desirable)
- Hold current driving licence (Desirable). Practical Experience:
- Must have a strong reading, writing and mathematical skills
- Computer literate

- Experience of working in a similar role Work on own initiative, proactive approach and can-do attitude. Right first-time mindset.
- Keeping the stores / yard to a high standard of cleanliness and tidy
- Must be able to work within large teams.
- A knowledge of good practice relating to Health and Safety Regulations
- Pre-shift checks & fault reporting of MHE
- Hazard reporting and safety conversation competent
- Computer literate and familiar with Warehouse management systems.
