  • Salary: £46,800 per annum plus potential shift pay of up to £3,800 per annum

  • Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 12 hours per day (11 hours contracted 1 hour break) day and night shifts

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at our Southern Distribution Centre. You will be responsible for providing engineering/maintenance services to the hub facility, which contributes to the maintenance of the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) system.

The MHE system is an automated sort system that includes powered conveyor systems, telescopic conveyors, scanning, proximity and x-ray technology, chutes and caster/roller decks. You will ensure the system’s functionality and reliability by carrying out planned and preventative maintenance, as well as fault finding and repairs.

You will report to the Maintenance Engineering Supervisor and work closely with the Property Maintenance and Operational colleagues.

Your responsibilities

As a Material Handling Equipment Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Maintain the electrical and mechanical elements of the MHE system
  • Carry out all PPM (Planned and Preventative Maintenance) in line with set schedules for the system and sub-systems to comply with relevant Industry, H&S, legislative and Company standards
  • Liaise effectively with Property Maintenance and Operational colleagues with regards to maintenance issues
  • Assist in preparation of reports as requested by the Maintenance Engineering Supervisor
  • Report maintenance activities using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
  • Carry out Electrical inspections to 17th Edition standard

Your qualifications and skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Hands on capability to resolve day to day maintenance issues in an effective and timely manner
  • Engineering Analytical skills and Fault finding
  • Proactive Team working and communication
  • Demonstrable ability to absorb complex systems knowledge
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate the execution of new skills when given appropriate training
  • Working knowledge of material handling equipment
  • An appreciation of project management
  • Knowledge of Engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Appreciation of planned preventative maintenance schedules
  • Ability to safely work at heights from MEWPS and fixed platforms
  • Confident use of common power tools, professional and hand tools
  • Able to accurately interpret manuals and drawings to deliver working capability (mechanics, electrics, pneumatics, hydraulics)
  • Basic knowledge and handling of high-tech products and IT-products
