About the department
Our Outsourcing department is responsible for our clients back office financial functions. We will complete all monthly ledger work booking of accruals and prepayments, fixed assets and completion of monthly management accounts. Controlling bank accounts and bank reconciliations and in some cases make payments on behalf of the client or set up the payment runs for their approval and release.
In order to progress the outsourcing strategy, a ‘Large Corporate Centre’ (LCC) has been established Belfast, and NetSuite ERP has been implemented as our software of choice to provide outsourced finance accounting and bookkeeping services to our clients.
Role requirements & Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Management Accounting Lead, you will be tasked with completing a range of management accounting activities to support the LCC in providing outstanding customer service to our clients, including but not limited to operational management accounting
- Prepares management accounting information for review by Management Accounting Lead to meet client needs and expectations, adhering to or exceeding deadlines. Role tasks include, but not limited to
- Bank reconciliations, liaising with the transaction processing team as required to resolve queries.
- Identification of and preparation and posting of general ledger journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, fixed assets journals and all other required GL adjustments
- Maintaining fixed assets registers, processing fixed asset events such as additions, disposals, revaluations, depreciation, and reconciliation of the fixed asset register to the general ledger
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Collation of management accounting packs for review, including lead and supporting schedules.
- Supporting client external audits by preparing audit files
- Understands and adheres to GDPR guidelines when dealing with personal information
- Preparation of VAT returns for review by Management Accounting Lead and GCVR team
- Ensures effective controls are in place to maintain compliance with RSM Tax and Accounting policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains procedural documentation relevant to role for knowledge transfer protocols and takes part in passing knowledge onto new team members as required
- Actively looks for opportunities to increase and expand knowledge base through research, on the job training and participation in continuous improvement projects
- Takes an active role in continuous improvement of process and technology through identification of areas of opportunity
- Maintains strong internal controls and minimises risk
- Identifies changes in client expectations and highlights to line manager
- Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of this position
Personal and professional qualities
To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience must include:
- Graduate. Preferably finance background, or equivalent gained through on the job experience.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Willingness to grow and learn and take on new challenges to aid your personal development.
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude and willingness to contribute to the success of the team
- Agile with change, ability to work in a developing environment and willing to help drive direction and define processes
- Netsuite ERP experience an advantage
- Ability to manipulate large data sets accurately, undertake root cause analysis and provide insightful information to management and clients
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, and communicate at all levels internally and externally
