The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a Quality System Advisor to identified senior managers within the business unit. To provide the Conformance Engineering Group Leader, Engineering Group Leader, Production Group Leader and Business units with independent evidence as to the effectiveness of the Quality Assurance System. To support the self-certification system employed as detailed in the Quality Assurance System. To support the QA Manager/Group Leader in acting as the interface between the site and Suppliers/Customers/Partners / Regulatory bodies.
  • Support the Quality Manager and business units by maintaining and monitoring quality standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and coordinating the eradication of non-conformances including customer returns, supplier rejects and working party snags
  • Support the delivery process in the compilation of Constituent Assembly Inspection Reports (CAIR’s and Folio’s) for major assemblies, and the release of manufactured parts and assemblies through Pre Delivery Inspections, raising of release documentation (CAA Form 1 , C of C ) and completion of Post Goods Issue transactions (PGI)

How You’ll Contribute

  • Monitor product quality on behalf of Engineering and Quality Manager by analysis of failures and trends, reporting to accountable functions for corrective and preventative action.
  • Auditing the effectiveness of the corrective/preventative action.
  • Co-ordinate reported quality problems (e.g. 8Ds, customer returns, working party snags, external rejects), conducting initial investigations, assessing probable cause, informing the accountable function and ensuring corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence as detailed by the Conformance Engineering Group Leader.
  • Define quality processes, conducting reviews of quality documentation i.e. Manufacturing Instructions, Departmental procedures etc.
  • To guide and advise the Production Group Leaders of Product Assurance matters, utilizing quality tools and techniques when eliminating root causes; facilitating MRB/CAB activities and provide product quality performance indicators, including visual management.
  • To act as a guide and point of contact for Customer and Supplier representatives as necessary, including escalation of Quality Alerts; escalation of external rejects through the Procurement organization; definition of Customer protection activities for a given issue including communication with Customer on progression of resolution; responding to Customer 8Ds within the agreed timescales ( D3 within 24hrs)
  • Provide support to the Conformance Engineering Group Leader in the compilation and maintenance of Quality Plans which are fit for purpose and take into account potential non-conformance probability and severity factors
  • Assist the Conformance Engineering Group Leader in defining quality processes, ensuring configuration status is in accordance with procedures and conducting reviews of quality documentation i.e. Manufacturing Instructions, Departmental procedures etc.
  • Responsibility for short term planning of their given tasks.

What You’ll Bring

Applicants must have a strong background in the aerospace engineering or manufacturing including:-

  • Minimum 5 years aerospace industry experience.
  • Knowledge of/experience with manufacturing and assembly of metallic/composite aircraft structures.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with a wide range of people and departments both internal and external to the company at all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility in working as a committed team player in a fast paced, customer focused environment.
  • Sound knowledge of airworthiness regulations in production, particularly Part 21 Subpart
  • Sound knowledge of configuration management principles and processes.
  • Demonstrated problem solving capabilities/skills.
