This Mechanical Engineering Internship focuses on supporting the design and execution of bringing new products to market in the Integrated System’s Test Group. The group is responsible for inventing and integrating complex electro-mechanical machines involving thermal, automation and structural challenges. The Mechanical Intern will fold into this dynamic and challenging environment to directly contribute to the ISTG’s goals and mission.Desired Experience & Skills:
- Seeking a college student that has experience with mechanical design projects and/or part design.
- Highly motivated person that can excel in a dynamic environment with strong personal discipline, and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess strong organizational skills and ability to problem solve with incomplete information.
- Willingness to take direction from other engineers and co-operate cross-functionally as needed.
- Hands-on experience running experiments in a lab setting.
- Basic knowledge of assembly techniques/tools.
- Basic knowledge of machine-shop fabrication techniques preferred.
- MUST be familiar with SolidWorks CAD design and Microsoft Excel. PDM and CAD Vault experience preferred.
- Some experience with Thermal analysis and 3D printing is preferred.
Education Level & Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a BS Program, Junior or Senior Level is preferred, however a sophomore with solid experience in SolidWorks and 3D printing would be considered.
- Must be available to commute to and work on site at our North Reading Location.
- The ideal candidate would be available for part-time work starting in April and expanding hours (once spring semester is complete) to full-time through August.
- Preferred candidate will be available to work through the fall 2024 semester.
