Job description: If you have the passion for providing holistic personalised and individualised care, working within the philosophy of birth centre setting, working collaboratively, this is the perfect role for you.We are looking for an enthusiastic birth centre core midwife to be part of the exciting relaunch of the Singleton Unit Birth Centre. You will be leading the way to support women and birthing people who opt to birth their babies within this newly reopened unit.There will be opportunity in this core role to work within all maternity settings at the William Harvey Hospital.We have our Maternity and Neonatal Improvement programme, an exciting time to join EKHUFT, where we can offer you a rewarding, flexible and supportive role, providing a full range of midwifery care.Being part of the team, you will have the opportunity to take a lead role in line with your personal development goals and work with families to drive the service forward.Main duties of the job

  • Be responsible for being part of the core team on a day to day basis and ensure dynamic risk assessments for women, birthing people and staff are effective.
  • Maintaining a high standard of midwifery care through planning, implementing and evaluating needs of all women and birthing people in order to ensure safe, effective and high-quality care.
  • Confident in providing care throughout the pregnancy continuum, with a specific focus on intrapartum and postnatal care.
  • Can demonstrate competencies in undertaking waterbirths, Perineal repair and cannulation.
  • Can confidently recognise and manage obstetric emergencies and transfers to the labour ward setting.
  • Support the developing role of the midwife by contributing to the change process through leadership, research, audit, education, training and clinical practice.
  • Maintain a high standard of record keeping.
  • Maintain contemporaneous with evidence-based midwifery practice, liaising with the wider multidisciplinary team when care falls outside of guidance.
  • Liaise with the Midwife co-ordinator and attend daily site meetings as required.
  • Be part of a helping hand on call roster to support the unit when in escalation. This will include ad hoc support to labour ward, triage and the antenatal/ postnatal ward.
  • Shows leadership skills for all midwifery staff within the department, maintaining clinical / professional competence and credibility.
