Job description: Motor Vehicle Mechanical Technician / Repair and Maintenance Mechanic who has experience in maintaining and repairing either manufacturing / plant equipment or motor vehicles or LGV / large vehicles with excellent problem-solving skills is required for leading global aviation equipment provider based in Luton Airport.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING PROVIDED

Providing you have a solid mechanical engineering background repairing motor vehicles, plant equipment, LGV / HGV Lorries or similar the company will provide additional training and support.

JOB TYPE: Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 4 on 4 off Shift Pattern 5.30am – 5.30pm

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Motor Vehicle Mechanical Technician / Repair and Maintenance Mechanic who has experience in maintaining and repairing either manufacturing / plant equipment or motor vehicles or LGV / large vehicles.

Working as the Motor Vehicle Mechanical Technician / Repair and Maintenance Mechanic you will play a crucial part in the success of the company by offering your expert mechanical knowledge in order to diagnose and repair equipment, such as towing tractors, aircraft tugs, baggage elevators and a variety of specialist and unique vehicles.

As the Motor Vehicle Mechanical Technician / Repair and Maintenance Mechanic will be mechanically skilled and a good problem solver in order to effectively maintain onsite equipment and vehicles.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Motor Vehicle Mechanical Technician / Repair and Maintenance Mechanic include:

  • Repair vehicles and plants as requested by the Workshop Supervisor
  • Carry out inspections, diagnosis and brake tests, reporting all defects to the Workshop Supervisor before commencing with any repairs or booking out any parts
  • Complete Job Card/Inspection Sheet for each job
  • Update the Workshop Supervisor of any further work or parts required
  • Inform the Workshop Supervisor of any VOR parts immediately
  • Label parts and put them onto correct shelves, e.g. warranty or exchange unit
  • Inform the Workshop Supervisor immediately upon job completion
  • Quarantine, label and report all defective tooling immediately to the site Workshop Supervisor

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Motor Mechanics – LGV Level 3
  • C&G Level 3 Electrical Diploma
  • Level 2 City and Guilds certification in Motor Mechanics or equivalent or IMI
  • Analytical and numerate with good communication skills
  • Customer oriented/service delivery focussed
  • General knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Operational vehicle/logistical background
  • Experience in the vehicle maintenance sector
