The Conservatoire is looking for a lecturer to lead our Level 6 Music Journalism module. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of a weekly lecture and seminar series and marking a large cohort of student work.

This module is designed for students who want to develop their creativity and explore different ways to research, report, and contextualise music. The module forms part of the conservatoire’s professional studies strands which enhances employment opportunities for our music graduates.

The module aims to provide students with the key concepts and theories in journalism and presents modern and progressive debates about media and its role in shaping the careers of musicians. Students will learn how to write for a variety of outlets and how to report effectively and creatively on areas of interest. The module will also help students critique opinions and understand the ethical standards enshrined within the field.

This role includes module coordination which involves consistent communication with management and administrative staff. Applicants should be mindful of the diversity of the cohort in terms of musical specialism and experience.

The successful candidate will have good experience of working in media and will have experience with reporting in range of styles for a portfolio of outlets.  Knowledge of the music industry and a range of stylistic interests will be a real advantage.
