Job Description

The role

A new and exciting role has been created for a Marketing and Events Assistant to help drive awareness of MyWorld, an innovative programme led by the University of Bristol, focused on the research and development of creative technologies within the West of England. If you’re someone who is excited about the intersection of creativity, science and engineering then this could be the role for you.

The role holder will promote the MyWorld programme to its key audiences and encourage them to take action and participate in the programme. MyWorld is made up of a consortium of 13 partners which includes Aardman, Bristol Old Vic, Digital Catapult and Esprit Film and Television. The programme is funded for five years and will run for another two years, until March 2026.

What will you be doing?

The role holder will be a critical part of sharing MyWorld’s incredible activities nationally and internationally. Whether this be celebrating projects that have been funded through the programme (such as giant inflatable robots, drone light displays or gigs in the metaverse) through marketing campaigns and technology showcase events, to creating videos capturing the ground-breaking discoveries our researchers are making, to promoting our specialised training courses.

You will be asked to lend your creativity to help the team design campaigns and craft messaging to excite our audience. You will liaise with industry-leading speakers, and communicate with partners to gather updates on their latest activity.

You will create visually engaging content and maintain key communication tools to make sure our audiences have up-to-date information and resources. You will help promote events and support the team by liaising with key suppliers, partners and internal teams.

The role is varied, interesting and dynamic and presents an opportunity to work supporting a programme that is delivering genuinely cutting-edge technological developments to further put the West of England on the map.

You should apply if

If you have good organisational skills, the initiative to work independently, a positive attitude, and the ability to communicate your thoughts with your colleagues, then you could be a good fit for this role.

The role holder will have experience in developing content within a marketing environment and have a good eye for visual design. You will have knowledge of LinkedIn, X (Twitter) and YouTube and proficiency using Microsoft products, WordPress and the CMS used for our website.

You will be excited and proud to help create events and promote them, working effectively to the deadlines required. There will be opportunities to explore other areas of marketing and events, such as photo and video editing.
