Job description: We are excited to announce a new opportunity within IUC to join us as a Core Health Advisor (CHA) at our Plymouth site on a part time basis. The CHA role will initially be offered as a six month fixed term contract, with the potential to become a permanent position in the future.This is your chance to train to be a Core Health Advisor in our 111 call centre, handling calls from members of the public. You’ll learn how to use a state-of-the-art triage tool called NHS Pathways to assess patients over the phone and direct them to the most appropriate care. Although these are not emergency calls, you’ll also need to be prepared to deal with emotional, distressing or life-threatening scenarios and to arrange for 999 services if required.Please find the Core Health Advisor job description attached for further information.For this role, you must be willing and flexible to work shifts that are mostly during the evenings and weekends (hours: 6pm – 8am, Monday to Sunday). You will work a shift pattern which is set for you by our Workforce Planning Team at least 4 weeks in advance.You can expect a guaranteed minimum of one full weekend off every four weeks. Contracts will be restricted to 16, 20, 24, and 30 hours per week, plus a guaranteed regular day off on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (to be agreed based on availability).Rate of Pay:£16.80 per hour between 7am and 11pm, Monday to Sunday, and £18.38 per hour between 11pm and 7am, Monday to Sunday.Training:All NHS 111 Health Advisors are required to complete a number of NHS Pathways and NHS 111 service specific courses in order to be a licensed operator working within the live service. To train to be a highly trained advisor you will need to be committed to attend one of our training dates (This is paid in full at our training rate of £11.48 per hour).The full-time programmes runs over a four week period whilst the part-time training runs over a six week period.Our next training dates available are:Monday 4th March 2024 – Full Time TrainingSaturday 9th March 2024 – Part Time TrainingWhat you’ll be doingWhat you will need:
- Educated to GCSE or Functional Skills level and possesses a fundamental level of Maths, English and ICT skills
- Previous experience working and communicating with the public
- Typing/word processing skills or qualification
- Computer experience
- Previous experience working in a team or with stakeholders across a range of settings
- Ability to use own initiative as appropriate
- Ability to stay calm in the event of the unexpected and under pressure
- Ability to communicate with a variety of different people and build rapport
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability and willingness to undertake competency-based training both initially and as ongoing requirement for the post to meet service requirements
