Job description: Sanctuary Personnel is currently looking for an experienced Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) to take on a new ongoing contract role working in a Crisis Team in Havant / Gosport.

Location: Havant /Gosport.

Pay Rate: £32 – £50 per hour (assignment rate).

Contract Type: Locum, 6-month contract/ongoing block booking.

Working Hours:

  • A minimum of two shifts per week.
  • 5pm – 10pm, Monday – Sunday.
  • 2pm – 10pm, Monday – Sunday.

Main Duties:

  • Lead the clinical management of a designated group of service users.
  • Allocate work to junior colleagues, reviewing progress and agreed outcomes.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of person-centred healthcare to a designated group of service users, using complex clinical decision making where appropriate.
  • Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing and planning care and responding to changes in service users’ health.
  • Identify and ensure the provision of the necessary physical care to service users, to help them complete daily living activities, ie. personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, manual handling, personal environment, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, physical observations.
  • Identify and provide appropriate intervention and emotional support for service users.
  • Create, develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff with other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery.
  • Ensure prescribed physical observations are undertaken as follows: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood sugars, urinalysis, weight and height and act upon exceptions appropriately.
  • Work with service users and carers across a wide age range including 16-18 and persons under 65.
  • Work in flexible ways with service users who may be difficult to engage or demonstrate a degree of diagnostic uncertainty.
  • Undertake direct work with service users and their families, including formulating care plans, crisis management, and advocacy.
  • Be confident in using social inclusion, person-centred and recovery focussed models of care.

Requirements of the Community Psychiatric Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Experience working as a Mental Health Nurse.
  • NMC Registration.
  • Full driving licence is preferred, but not essential.
