Duties:

  • Empower and support the person with diabetes to achieve an individualised level of self- management
  • Provide expert advice in the areas of hypoglycaemia and inter-current illness
  • Advise on treatment adjustments
  • Be responsible for teaching patients and their carers to manage their diabetes to the best of their abilities
  • Act as a specialist nursing resource and provide clinical advice to primary care, community nurses and other agencies involved in the care of clients with diabetes

Requirements of the Diabetes Community/District Nurse:

  • RGN qualified/NMC registered with valid live pin
  • Recent UK nursing experience
  • Must have Community/District nursing experience
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of all oral diabetic agents as well as insulin and GLP-1 receptor agonist’s therapies and act as a resource for people with diabetes, their carers and HCPs and maintain active knowledge of current practices and new developments
