Duties:
- Empower and support the person with diabetes to achieve an individualised level of self- management
- Provide expert advice in the areas of hypoglycaemia and inter-current illness
- Advise on treatment adjustments
- Be responsible for teaching patients and their carers to manage their diabetes to the best of their abilities
- Act as a specialist nursing resource and provide clinical advice to primary care, community nurses and other agencies involved in the care of clients with diabetes
Requirements of the Diabetes Community/District Nurse:
- RGN qualified/NMC registered with valid live pin
- Recent UK nursing experience
- Must have Community/District nursing experience
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of all oral diabetic agents as well as insulin and GLP-1 receptor agonist’s therapies and act as a resource for people with diabetes, their carers and HCPs and maintain active knowledge of current practices and new developments
