Job description: NHS Maintenance Electrician

My NHS client based in the South East of London require a multi skilled electrical maintenance candidate to joining their team. This NHS trust provides a wide range of mental health services to the local community as well as nationally

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will need to be keen and enthusiastic. The main activities are maintenance, reactive repairs, compliance monitoring and associated remedial work. Applicants should be able to priorities their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks from appropriate technical instructions/drawings, specifications in a safe, tidy manner and be capable of working on their own initiative. As well as a requirement to undertake training to remain current with relevant standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use all skills, experience and knowledge ensuring safe working methods to carry out maintenance tasks in the most cost effective way for the Trust
  • To understand the workings of buildings, engineering services and systems in NHS/Trust premises. Ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard and that all plant and equipment are utilised in a safe and efficient manner
  • To carry out work in a timely manner as requested using the current works requisition system and ensuring that any associated information is recorded.
  • To provide a maintenance service to all Trust buildings, off site properties and be able to work unsupervised.
  • To keep up to date with current legislation and attend training courses as directed by Estate Management
  • To be compassionate and mindful to our clients and be mindful of the need for safe use, security, storage of plant, equipment and tools
  • Diagnose and repair faults on complex electrical services, engineering plant and equipment
  • Work on electrical distribution systems including emergency standby lighting

Requirements:

  • NVQ3 Equivalent Level 3 in relevant trade- Essential
  • Health & Safety Qualification in one of the following: Safe use of ladders/Safe use/work from scaffold towers-Pasma certificate/Manual Handling- Essential
  • Knowledge of the compliance demands in healthcare premises- Essential
  • Previous experience in this type of environment – Desirable
  • Experience in Fire alarms – Desirable
  • Experience in Intruder Systems – Desirable
  • Experience in Door entry systems – Desirable
  • Experience in Emergency lighting systems
  • COSHH- Desirable
  • To be able to deal with tense difficult and stressful situations in the ward environment
  • To be able to work in occupied areas safely and conduct oneself in a manner that preserves dignity and respect to our clients
  • Knowledge of all associated trades

Shift Times:

37.5 Hours per week

Monday-Friday

8am-4:30pm

This role will require you to get a DBS if you do not already have one.
