Available Hours:

Permanent – Part Time – 18 hours per week.

MHA have a unique opportunity to work within your local community to support older people to live later life well by increasing their social inclusion and wellbeing. Therefore, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in Whitstable, Kent. We are developing a new delivery model in Kent where you can see 3 of our services combining their knowledge, resource and passion to create one collaborative community that continues to expand the offer and support we can provide to those living both in the local community and our care home. You will be predominately based in MHA Bradbury Grange care home focussing on the engagement, activity and wellbeing provision of our residents, however there is also an expectation to deliver services across Kent, and you will need to have a willingness to travel within the local community, as well as attend team meetings, training etc. at other MHA’s sites.

This position requires you to work closely with the community, building networks and engaging with other organisations, you will therefore require strong communication and organisation skills. It is desirable to have a clean driving licence and access to a car. Confidence working on different digital platforms will set you aside from other applicants due to our ever-developing online services used to increase our reach and variation.

The post holder will also be responsible for coordinating a team of volunteers locally, who support at sessions and in the wider community to help us achieve our mission.

The MHA Communities Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering a programme of activities, the scope of which will vary depending upon resident and member needs, desires, and abilities locally. All activities will seek to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings.

This programme could include a mix of offerings such as befriending, lunch clubs or outings. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop new activities which may include coordinating with other organisations such as local colleges to offer IT classes or arranging for a local professional to deliver a series of exercise groups.
