Operations Manager (Core Ops and RKE) (Fixed term) at University of Nottingham

Based in the School of Politics and International Relations, as Operations Manager (Core Operations and Research & Knowledge Exchange) you will be part of the School’s operational management team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of professional services support for Core Operations and Research and Knowledge Exchange for the School.
Specifically, you will:

•  Lead and manage the Core Ops and RKE team in the School’s professional services team.
•  Oversee the School’s research, HR, and finance-related administration and processes ensuring these underpin high quality support and compliance with University policy and processes.
•  Lead on the continuous improvement of operational systems and processes in the School.
•  Actively contribute to the Faculty’s professional services networks and communities of practice.
•  Plan, monitor and manage resource allocation, develop and implement local policy, processes and plans.

You will need strong interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative approach, experience of supervising and supporting teams and processes, alongside the ability to analyse and solve problems and thrive in a fast-paced and varied environment. You will help drive forward change and deliver service excellence.
The School of Politics and International Relations has strengths in international security and the study of Asia-Pacific region, but the research of its academics covers almost every aspect of contemporary politics. Today, with over 900 students and 60 staff, we combine excellence and innovation in teaching with impactful research that has a positive and demonstrable impact on the political world. This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed-term post for 1 year. Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
