People Consulting Manager

Location: UK wide

As part of our Business Consulting team, People Consulting support organisations to achieve their strategic ambitions through their people. The types of work we deliver to achieve that is hugely varied, from working with an HR Director to design an HR function that delivers for their business or supporting an organisation to build an inclusive culture. Whatever it is, we use a data driven approach to the people agenda to create tangible and sustainable change for our clients.

A look into the role

As a Manager within our People Consulting team, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day client relationship for smaller projects
  • Drafts project budgets and monitors/manages actual costs versus budget
  • Be a key support on writing and developing proposals for targets and clients, including being an essential support on pitching or as part of a wider pitch team
  • Take responsibility for leading take on procedures, including drafting letters of engagement for Partner or Director approval
  • Support and input into the development and delivery of a clear go-to market plan for People Consulting across all our regions, leveraging our internal resource and external network
  • Support the development of People Consulting product collateral, including tools and templates etc.
  • Support the team on key accounts, including the management and day-to-day activities of these
  • Lead report drafting for smaller projects, or drafting of specific sections for larger projects, with minimal oversight, ensuring accuracy for all figures presented
  • Proactively build your own network both internal and external to the Firm to generate leads
  • Lead initiatives to raise the awareness of People Consulting within the Firm
  • Take an active role in marketing events and seminars, including organising, as required by the department
  • Support the provision of ‘on the job’ training to more junior team members including regular feedback

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a People Consulting Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

  • Good knowledge, understanding and technical expertise within HR, wider people and talent
  • A clear understanding of people policies, processes and practices as well as change levers for culture and engagement
  • Good relationship management with internal colleagues and external clients, building trust quickly and adaptable to change
  • Have a natural proactive working style with a problem-solving and commercial mindset
  • Ability and desire to work closely with, and support teams to deliver excellent outcomes for our clients
  • Robust report writing skills, supporting the development of business cases, bid leading, supporting tenders and negotiating
  • Experience of one or more of the following: Organisation design and development; HR function transformation; Inclusion and Diversity
  • Ability to respond to client requests at short notice and travel to client’s premises. Travel is primarily across the UK

It would be great if you had some of the following skills as well, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • Worked within an internal HR function
  • Experience of culture change and developing interventions
  • Core consulting skills, including project and stakeholder management, change management and leading parts of a change or transformation programme
  • Supporting the development of propositions and offerings for clients, and highlighting opportunities at the right time (such as regulatory driven offerings)
  • Design and delivery of People Strategies within different organisations
  • Development and delivery of an Employee Value Proposition or the related elements of such
  • People management experience
