Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Vascular Cell Biology at The Royal Veterinary College, University of London
Job Description
Interview Date: Friday 06 June 2025
We are seeking to appoint a skilled and motivated researcher to join our team. This post-doctoral research post offers an exciting opportunity for a talented cell and molecular biologist to gain experience in research in vascular biology with a focus on arterial medial calcification. This project, which is funded by the Humane Research Trust, aims to completely humanize research into this widespread, untreatable condition. It will use human vascular smooth muscle cells and arterial rings along with a range of experimental approaches to develop and validate novel in vitro and ex vivo approaches that model arterial medial calcification without using any animal products. This work will represent an exciting step forward in the ongoing drive to reduce animal use in scientific research.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Cell Biology or related discipline and have a track-record of success, as indicated by first-author publications in well-regarded journals and presentations at scientific conferences. They must possess excellent organisation skills, be highly motivated and be capable of interacting as part of a team. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the experimental work associated with the project as well as for producing deliverables in terms of conference presentations, preparation of manuscripts for publication, and public engagement activities.
The post is funded for 24 months and is full time.
We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:
- Competitive and attractive pension package
- Generous 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and concessionary days)
- A range of family friendly policies, including adoption, maternity and paternity pay and leave
- On site café and restaurant
- Free membership to gym facilities at Camden and the Fitness and Wellbeing Centre located on site at Hawkshead (gym, badminton, climbing wall, Zumba, yoga and Pilates classes included)
