Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a small friendly team in the Department of Veterinary Medicine.  The main focus of the role, will be to provide technical assistance to the post mortem room manager in all aspects of the work including cleaning, safety and setting up of classes for teaching.

Candidates should have a good general education, (GCSE level)/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent level of practical experience, experience of working with cutting instruments is essential and candidates ideally should have experience of working in an abattoir, butchery or post mortem room, however training and learning whilst in the role will be possible for the right candidate. 

Applicants should be customer focussed with a can-do attitude, be able to work with minimal supervision, have a knowledge of Health and Safety issues relating to working in a post mortem room and will need to be passionate about cleanliness and bio security. You will also need to pay attention to detail, possess good IT skills in Word and Excel so that accurate records can be kept.

This is a challenging, busy, but rewarding role, so the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst staying calm is vital.  You will have the opportunity to work on your own initiative within the scope of your role.
