We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist with several years of laboratory experience who would like to transition to a business-focused role.
About the Role
At Ossila, we supply high-quality specialised laboratory materials and scientific equipment for device fabrication and measurement. To further help our customers, we are keen to develop additional traded product ranges so that we can provide complete solutions to experimental problems.
As we expand our range of traded products, all our activities must be led by quality. To succeed in this role, you will have significant laboratory experience and demonstrate Product Leadership by discerning and maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Within this varied role, you will:
- Understand the needs of our customer base of laboratory scientists.
- Identify value-adding products that can be effectively sourced, quality-assured, and marketed.
- Combine data analysis and experience to identify target product categories.
- Work with our international trade and compliance team to identify manufacturers with excellent quality and value, negotiate pricing and delivery terms.
- Order samples to critically analyse the quality of products in our laboratories.
- Create website pages and marketing materials for traded products, including product packaging.
- Write scientifically accurate content for marketing campaigns.
- Manage the on-page search-engine optimisation for traded products to increase sales.
- Create and maintain entries in our stock-management databases and manage stock levels.
- Provide technical support as the first point of contact for traded products.
- Take full responsibility for business-unit performance through Lean methodology, using data analysis to optimise all activities.
As a small and fast-growing company, you will collaborative effectively within a busy team environment, but also work under your own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems. You will work on several concurrent tasks with different deadlines and re-prioritise new tasks as needed.
About You
- You have a laboratory-based PhD in a scientific discipline, with a strong experimental background. A bachelor’s degree will also be considered if you have significant laboratory experience.
- You enjoy interacting with customers, and value the commercial success of your work.
- You are highly organised and self-motivated, with excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
- You are a confident problem solver within both business and science.
- You approach your work with excellent attention to detail.
- You have strong IT skills.
- You enjoy being part of a team and foster a collaborative environment through effective communication.
