Job Description
Salary on appointment will be £22,197 per annum, with an annual increment up to £24,144 per annum.
We are seeking an individual with a desire to develop or start their career within our business focused Procurement team. We seek someone who will be confident to be customer facing and have the ability and desire to own and resolve our customers queries and problems as they occur, offering solutions (supported by our excellent training programme) and seeing those challenges through to a satisfactory conclusion within our clearly defined procurement processes.
You will, under the guidance of the Head of Procurement Operations, provide operational support for the Procurement Team and to all relevant colleagues in the University. You will promote the procurement strategic objectives and working practices, ensuring existing frameworks and contracts are utilised in a compliant manner.
The role will provide support to the Procurement Services’ internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to develop your career within the team structure is available for the successful candidate.
You will lead on allocated procurement activity and support other members of the Procurement Team with Procurement projects as directed. The role will take responsibility for collection, analysis and interpretation of data on contract and framework use to assist with procurement recommendations.
We provide the opportunity to develop your career (or interest) in Procurement by supporting professionally recognised qualifications in the industry via the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) and we can provide personal mentoring in support of this.
You will be educated to GCSE standard, Maths and English at Grade 5 or C or above (or equivalent qualification). You will have demonstrable written and oral communication skills and the ability to develop good relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will also be expected to prioritise to ensure deadlines are met when managing multiple activities, therefore the successful candidate will need to be very organised.
Previous experience in a procurement background would be an advantage, however full training will be provided where this is not available. Further information is available in the Candidate Brochure.
This full-time indefinite post is available immediately working Monday to Friday.
