The role

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Procurement Support Office (PSO), a team that provides a range of important operational roles within the University of Bristol’s Procurement team. With a spend of £200 million per annum on goods and services across the organisation this is a chance to join a busy team with a wide ranging and varied workload supporting one of the most popular and successful universities in the UK.

As Procurement Support Officer the tasks you undertake will help the Procurement Team contribute to the University’s wider vision and strategy. Providing procurement administration, you will support the team with ensuring that goods, services and works are identified and purchased in a way that supports the delivery of outstanding research, innovative education, a rewarding student experience and makes a significant contribution to the economic, social and environmental well-being of Bristol and the South West.

You will work closely with Procurement Managers to deliver a broad range of technical support such as maintaining and processing new or current suppliers and handling a range of procurement enquiries. Working with a wide range of stakeholders across Faculties and within professional services you will build up effective working relationships with colleagues at differing levels of seniority.

What will you be doing?

  • You will receive and process requests to set up new suppliers.
  • Managing the University’s Corporate Credit Card scheme.
  • Receiving enquiries from across the University relating to procurement, credit cards or business travel.
  • You will liaise with suppliers and handle their enquiries.
  • Putting together analytical information to identify spending patterns and/or to respond to Freedom of Information enquiries.

You should apply if

  • You are a skilled administrator and ideally have experience working within procurement, buying or finance.
  • With excellent analytical skills, you are able to evaluate data to prepare reports and inform decisions.
  • Proficient in managing your own workload you can multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
  • You have good literacy and numeracy skills and work with a high level of attention to detail.
  • You can communicate effectively with a range of contacts both verbally and in writing.
  • You are either educated to A-Level (or equivalent) or can demonstrate this level of work experience.
