Your role at a glance
Lead, motivate and develop a team responsible for the product ledgers and box management deliverables, and provide strong engagement with divisional business and finance teams. Ensure adherence to a robust control framework and drive continuous improvement across all activities.
What you’ll be doing
- To manage the team in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team’s business objectives are achieved consistently.
- Work collaboratively with business partners/key stakeholders to strengthen business partnering links to ensure business decisions can be promptly and effectively deployed within the team. Attendance at related working groups providing feedback on output and issues raised.
- Overseeing BAU deliverables, task scheduling and service demands, ensuring the work the team completes is of the highest standard with accuracy and attention to detail a key driver. Do this by reviewing and signing-off key deliverables and managing individual capability so that the team work effectively and efficiently, with prompt resolution of issues.
- Ensure a strong control framework is in place for the team, supported by regularly reviewed and updated controls and process documentation ensuring data is processed in accordance with documented procedures and controls, and key person dependencies are identified and managed.
- Lead the identification of system and process change opportunities within Product Accounting & Box. Deliver project and continuous improvement driven change initiatives impacting systems and processes into production while ensuring controls and service levels are maintained.
- Deliver change projects impacting the team’s systems or processes to ensure that financial controls and procedures remain robust. This will include oversight of planning, impact assessment, resource estimates, test script design, testing and implementation.
- Ensure the delivery and review of financial reconciliations, including the investigation of outstanding items is completed to the agreed timetable. Ensure the reasons for reconciling items are clearly and concisely explained so that business divisions understand the financial risks associated with their reconciliations. Responsible for driving forward the clearance of historical items through relationship management with key stakeholders.
- Ensure that the appropriate processes and systems are in place to provide support to the business divisions so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and principles
- Understanding of and ability to interpret and apply L&G Group Policy and Procedures, as well as L&G’s risk management philosophy and ability to support business in delivery and monitoring of the risk control environment.
- Dynamic, passionate and energetic personality with ability to effectively manage workload drive change and improvement across the division
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
- Ability to influence others and operate in a complex matrix structure.
- Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written or verbal reports.
- Using logical argument and data, challenge peers and Directors.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of business and to develop and maintain strong relationships with finance and non-finance individuals
- Advanced knowledge in the use of spreadsheets, databases and analysis tools.
- Ability to design, develop and maintain financial models
