We are currently seeking a Product Assurance Engineer to join us at our modern manufacturing facility in Western Approach. This site is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world’s most popular aircrafts. As the new Product Assurance Engineer you will facilitate the effective implementation of quality planning and non-conformance reduction activities, including the management of supplier and customer concerns and returns.
The successful candidate will be joining a strong team of six engineers. You will be supporting the A350 and A400M projects by working with multiple departments to ensure smooth running of processes and analyse and provide solution to problems that arise. As a new Product Assurance Engineer you will be liaising with internal and external customers advising on project improvements and logical approaches to foreseeable issues. You will strive for continuous improvement and work well within your team to problem solve.
How You’ll Contribute
Lead the development and deployment of advanced quality planning activities within GKN Western Approach, specific tasking as follows:
· Provide manufacturing support to the production areas with reference to quality issues
· 8D facilitation and resolution
· Process capability studies
· Adopt and drive/ be an advocate of Zero Defects culture.
· Manage product quality risk management through the application of PFMEA
· Drive consistent weekly corrective action board (CAB) reviews
· Support Multi-functional teams by driving evidence based decision-making.
· Operate, maintain and innovate the site quality notification (QN) database
· Support the relevant functions regarding quality non-conformance reporting and resolution
(NCR’s).
· Support and lead the deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) with a bias towards
Quality
· Review and update as required control plans (inspection and certification controls)
· Measurement systems evaluation
· Co-ordinate and manage the Non-Conformance Management System (NCMS) as follows:
· Generate product quality performance indicators – KPI’s
· Lead on problem solving activities by establishing clear problem definition, root cause analysis, customer protection and corrective and preventative action
· Support investigations into customer reported quality problems
· Where necessary, interface with the Procurement, Components and Assembly
organisations on quality issues in the supply chain
What You’ll Bring

Essential:
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent within an engineering discipline
- Knowledge of PFMEA
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing and quality management systems and processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical data
Desirable:
- Educated to HND Level desirable but not essential
- Knowledge / Experience of SAP
