These are exciting times for the BT Business teams in Digital – and for the Chapter as we look to scale in the coming months.
The Design Chapter stands for growth, passion, creativity, authenticity, positivity and compassion – and we’re now looking for talented individuals to join our close-knit team.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join the BT Business Digital Team. We’re investing hundreds of millions of pounds into digital. We’re transforming the way we work to create the best digital experience in the telco market and something that customers talk about as the best in the UK.
We believe in empowering our digital superheroes to work autonomously as teams, and to rapidly learn and develop the best routes and techniques to creating customer value. We’re founded on the core idea that we continuously ‘build, measure, and learn’ which allows us to deliver on our purpose: to drive digital thinking and expertise so that together we can create the best experiences that enhance our customers’ lives.
We’ve got something really special here, something we’re all incredibly proud to be part of. Every day we have the chance to positively impact the lives of the millions of customers that engage with us. To bring them closer to the things that matter most to them. Join us on our ground-breaking journey.
Role Accountabilities
We’re a Digital team of over 500 with 100 + of those people in the Design team. Design is divided into feature teams: Product Design, Content Design, Capabilities and Design Ops.
This role will be joining a new squad responsible for creating and maintaining our new Design System. As a Product Designer on this team, you’ll work on realizing the relevant components, patterns, interactions, and behaviors that define our design system and underpin our products user experience. It’s an exciting role, where you’ll have to cater to two types of users:
Our internal design and engineering teams that use our design system to build our products. A lot of your work will involve cross-functional collaboration to ensure teams are well supported and have what they need to design their features.
Our customers and agents who use and interact with our products.
We are looking for an experienced designer that has developed effective design systems in the past. You’re a self-starting designer who thrives on building out intricate design systems and continually looks for ways to improve effectiveness. You have a naturally good eye, obsessively meticulous when it comes to detail and are confident in your craft.
You have pixel-perfect standards with exceptional interaction design skills and an eye for accessibility and usability. You’ll work with engineers to ensure your designs are implemented perfectly.
While this isn’t a managerial role, you love leading concepts and taking people along for the ride. You participate in strategic thinking and planning and are comfortable thinking two or three quarters ahead.
You enjoy engaging with other designers to understand their requirements and can communicate your design process and practice in a way that helps others grow. You have a bullet-proof eye for identifying common design patterns throughout web and native mobile platforms and an understanding of how to implement these patterns into our system.
You enjoy writing as a form of communication. You have experience in writing design documentation that’s easy for the reader to consume and understand. You will be at your best when you are in the zone designing components and love “geeking “out on UI details, interaction patterns and systemic and programmatic design. You’re hands-on and excited to roll up your sleeves and get things done as part of a dynamic team.
Above all, you’re an advocate for consistency with enough flexibility to feedback and change. It’s all about perfection and performance.
