In this job, you’ll be accountable for crafting digital product experiences that meet user needs but also business goals. This role will have a material impact on the success of the Consumer business.

The exact digital products in the scope of any of our roles will evolve over time. We will assign you to an alliance based upon a combination of your background, your development needs and interest and the business need. Example alliances we operate today are; BT Sales, EE Sales, Global Features, My Account, Help & Community.

Role Accountabilities

As a product designer for the design system, you will work closely with Design Managers, Product Owners, Specialist Product Designers and Software Engineers to ensure a cohesive experience across our platforms. You will design components using our atomic approach, write clear guidelines, processes to ensure consistency and scalability.

Core responsibilities:
· Envision, create and help to maintain our current design system (designed on Figma)
· Work closely with and support the UX/Product Design Teams and dev/engineering teams, across multiple products
· Help development teams create components by ensuring its built according to design and interaction specifications, and also applying our token systems
· Maintain the design system, create, and update documentation, and library components
· Establish design standards and principles accompanying the design system for scalability, efficiency, and consistency
· Evaluate and improve usability and accessibility of components, and be a champion for the user
· Work with product designers by providing clear feedback on usage, conventions, and patterns
· Improve the design to development handoff process
· Give clear and usable guidance/feedback to product designers, help create new components, and promote best practices
· Occasionally conduct/participate in research that is relevant to building the design system
· Uphold a high standard for design excellence, and contribute to raising the bar for design at our company

Skills & Experience

A spectrum of technical expertise across the following skills (with a specialism in some areas):
· Knowledge of modern, emerging web and mobile UX/UI design patterns and experiences
· Flourishes in an environment of continuous learning and eager to advance your craft further
· Good understanding of the technical basics around web and app applications
· Ability to communicate and collaborate in cross-functional teams
· Strong UX and UI skills
· Lean approach to action; continually finding ways to deliver more value to the customer and the business with less effort.
· Upbeat and passionate about design and a great team player
· Excellent at presenting your work and sharing your knowledge.
· Ability to create Accessible Design by following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
· Knowledge of Semantic Mark-up and CSS (this is a plus) – important for our token system and for your communication with developers
· Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with an intrinsic ability to turn complexity into simplicity.
