This is an exciting opportunity to provide intellectual leadership in the field of Adult Social Care. Working with a team of outstanding researchers at various career stages, you will help lead and deliver our portfolio of funded research projects, including the ESRC funded Centre for Care, and the Improving Adult Care Together (IMPACT) project. The Centre for Care is a £10m investment which is generating research evidence to understand and address pressures and inequalities in how people experience care and social care across the life course. IMPACT is a £15m UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care, funded by the ESRC and the Health Foundation, and led by the University of Birmingham.

We would love to hear from applicants who have an established track record for world leading research publications, grant capture, and societal impact through their research in adult social care. You will have a vision for cementing CIRCLE as a world leading centre of excellence. You will be committed to securing future grants from a range of funders, and to building sustainable partnerships with a range of academic and non-academic partners.

For this role, you will:

  • Have a passion for supporting researchers to deliver outstanding, impactful research in adult social care
  • Possess excellent leadership skills and experience of building cohesive and ambitious research teams
  • Have experience and achievement in working with others both externally and internally in the development and submission of successful funding proposals
  • Be committed to involving people with experience of receiving and giving care in research and knowledge exchange
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff across a range of academic and non-academic organisations
  • Have good problem solving skills.
  • Be able to prioritise your workload appropriately.
  • Act with tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.

The Centre for International Research on Care, Labour and Equalities (CIRCLE) is one of three interdisciplinary Faculty of Social Sciences Research Institutes. Situated in the brand new Faculty of Social Sciences building, The Wave, CIRCLE enjoys outstanding facilities designed to foster research collaboration across our academic disciplines. CIRCLE comprises a team of researchers working collaboratively across disciplines relevant to care and caring and to paid and unpaid work in diverse contexts.
