Job Description

Contract type: Fixed term until 31st December 2029.

Location: The Wave

We are seeking applications for a Programme Manager for the Co-Centre for Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems based at the University of Sheffield.

The Co-Centre for Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems is an exciting new venture funded by the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), managed jointly by Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), University College Dublin (UCD) and the University of Sheffield (UoS). The vision of the Co-Centre is to develop innovative and transformative solutions to transition our food system and position the UK and Ireland as global leaders in research and innovation for positive and sustainable change in the transition to climate-neutrality by 2050.

As the GB Programme Manager, you will ensure clear alignment between the SFI/DAERA funded work and the UKRI Spoke activities and ensure optimal linkages of UKRI funded work across Platforms, demonstrators and Spokes. You will work closely with the Research Funding Manager (based at University College Dublin) to identify further funding opportunities and co-ordinate national and international research funding bids. A particular focus will be in supporting the preparation of Horizon Europe proposals, Wellcome Trust proposals, and other funding calls.

This post is based within the Psychology Department working as part of the Institute of Sustainable Food. The Institute for Sustainable Food works closely with partners in business, government and civil society to find dynamic solutions to the challenges of food security and sustainability.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
