We seek an Administrative Assistant to work on the project “Novel legumes as a nexus for interdisciplinary studies in schools”. The project provides support for up to 6 months at 50% FTE from 12th February 2024 to work with Dr Mark Chapman in the Plants and Food Security group at the University of Southampton ( ). The project will work with a number of schools to grow legume crops across the UK and will run a dedicated cross-disciplinary project with Beaulieu Convent School, Jersey.
The role
The candidate will work alongside Dr Chapman to (1) advertise the project and identify schools to work with, (2) help procure equipment and consumables, including organising postage to schools where necessary, (3) organise project discussions between PhD students and Beaulieu Convent School (remotely). The successful candidate is expected to be in Southampton for at least one day (or two half days) per week (day(s) can be negotiated) with remote working for the remainder of the time permitted.
About you
You will be organised and motivated, with an interest in biology, plants, and/or climate change. The project will involve working with teachers and schools (remotely), therefore experience working with schools or other public groups would be an asset. You should have the ability to work independently and to use e.g. Word, Teams and Excel, to ensure the administrative tasks are completed in a timely manner.
