Job Description

Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £31,396 to £33,966 with potential progression once in post to £38,205. Grade 6

Interviews will be held 13th and 14th March 2024.

Main Duties

Content Production

  • To scope, plan, develop and deliver creative and thought-provoking digital engagement opportunities for social media and websites to provide new opportunities to experience the University’s research. 
  • Work collaboratively to identify opportunities for innovative digital public engagement content and campaigns, aiming to engage and facilitate two-way dialogue with agreed audiences and to generate excitement and interest.

Collaboration

  • To work closely with colleagues across External Relations and the wider University, including academic and professional services staff, taking a joined-up approach to producing digital content and foster a positive culture of collaboration. Key partners include Campaigns and Reputation; Digital Channel Management; The Exchange venue team.

Other duties:

  • To participate as an active and responsible member of the team and contribute to the development of policies, strategies and practice with regard to public engagement.
  • To represent the team at agreed external events, ensuring that UoB’s public engagement activities achieve regional, national and international reach to enhance the reputation of the University.
  • Supports the University’s sustainability agenda through resource efficient working. 
  • Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Educated to graduate level and/or with experience of producing digital content within a visitor-facing organisation. 
  • Deep understanding of audiences and public engagement through effective programming – both face to face and online activities.
  • Excellent understanding of digital channels and content commissioning and production processes.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimisation, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights and other analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of industry best-practices, including content delivery standards and usability.
  • Excellent skills in industry-standard Adobe photo, audio and video editing software.
  • Excellent communication skills, with good editorial judgement.
