Registered Veterinary Nurse – Internal Medicine at The University of Edinburgh
Job Description
Part time: 15 hours per week. Our nurses are required to cover one weekend shift per month, paid as overtime.
Working Monday and Tuesday shifts 8.30am-5pm (times TBC with successful candidate)
The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated internal medicine nursing team at the Hospital for Small Animals. We are seeking an RCVS registered veterinary nurse (RVN) who is organized and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Our Internal Medicine Service focuses on complex medical issues in dogs and cats that are often challenging to diagnose or treat. We provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for medical conditions, including endocrine, gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, nasal, and haematological diseases. Our advanced facilities feature flexible video-endoscopy for examining and biopsying the gastrointestinal, urinary, and respiratory tracts. Additionally, we offer a specialized I131 (radioactive iodine) treatment service for cats with hyperthyroidism, primarily managed by our feline medicine nurses.
Extensive training will be provided, with opportunities to shadow experienced nursing staff across all areas of the hospital.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Being an RCVS registered veterinary nurse is essential.
- Excellent organisational and communications skills are essential.
- Keen dedication to teaching the next generation of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses is essential.
