We are now recruiting for a Rent Recovery Assistant to join our team. As part of the Housing Income and Leaseholder Management business unit, you will provide income recovery services, focussing on arrears prevention and low-level arrears management, which contribute to the wider income management team objective of minimising arrears and maximising tenancy sustainment.

The role:

In this role, working with the Income Management Advisors (IMAs), and the wider team, you will:

  • manage a caseload of rent accounts to minimise arrears through application of rent recovery processes.
  • negotiate with tenants to establish sustainable payment plans to ensure tenancies are sustained and rent income maximised for the Authority.
  • provide guidance and support to tenants around claiming Housing Benefit and Universal Credit to ensure tenants receive appropriate support.
  • work proactively to ensure tenancies are started well to maximise sustainment and reduce arrears.
  • serve notices and visit tenants as part of the rent recovery process.
  • liaise with both internal departments and external agencies to ensure rent arrears are reduced and tenancies sustained.
  • ensure that Direct Debit processes are followed to facilitate the accurate and timely payment of rent by tenants.
  • To prepare paperwork for court cases in support of the IMAs

The successful candidate:

You will have demonstrable experience working in an income management, or similar, environment and will be educated to A Level or hold a level 3 qualification in a relevant subject. You will also being comfortable working with numbers, have good communication skills and a problem-solving approach to your work.
