Research and Communications Fellow at SOAS University of London
Job Description
SOAS University of London is the leading Higher Education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East. SOAS University of London is positioned to play a leading role in reimagining higher education globally, with a new strategic plan in place as the basis for the renewal and revitalisation of the School which commits SOAS to both student responsiveness and research intensity. SOAS is moving towards a new model of international partnerships which is responsive to the transnational character of our global challenges.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work with the three DLD Co-Directors, supporting the institute’s programme of activities and leading on the production of a series of case studies, reflecting the distinctive ethos of DLD.
About the Department
Economic and social development requires many actors: however, typically these have operated in separate spheres, not understanding each other well and even seeing each other as adversaries. In a world characterised by profound changes and heightened uncertainties, overcoming this ‘silo-ization’ and the lack of mutual understanding it leads to is ever more important.
DLD, an institute at SOAS University of London, brings people and disciplines together to generate more creative and strategic solutions to difficult development challenges.
The participants in DLD’s events (thematic Future Leaders Programmes, High-Level Dialogues, Annual Lectures) are current leaders – such as political leaders, corporate leaders, policymakers, leaders of civil society organisations, leaders of international organisations and academic leaders – and future leaders (or people who are likely to be in leadership positions in the next 5 -10 years). The participants take part in core activities that aim to help the socio-economic development of developing countries by encouraging dialogues and co-learning between relevant sectors.
