The Role

This role is for a creative architect or architectural technologist who will develop conceptual designs and/or prototypes of breathable facades which passively respond to environmental conditions to enable buildings to maintain comfortable internal conditions year-round, with minimal or zero energy use. This short term position comes near the end of a 3 year research project funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The successful candidate(s) will build on previous material testing, prototyping and climate analysis, and will be expected to apply these findings in developing conceptual designs for implementation in low energy buildings and/or creatively developing, fabricating, documenting and testing physical prototypes.

The appointee will join a vibrant, multidisciplinary group in the world’s first Hub for Biotechnology for the Built Environment (http://bbe.ac.uk/), within the School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape.

As part of our commitment to career development for research colleagues, the University has developed 3 levels of research role profiles. These profiles set out firstly the generic competences and responsibilities expected of role holders at each level and secondly the general qualifications and experiences needed for entry at a particular level.

This position is available full or part-time.

This role is fixed term until 31st October 2024.
