Research Assistant / Associate in Computational Genomics – UK Dementia Research Institute at Imperial College London

Applications are invited for a fully funded Research Assistant / Associate in Computational Genomics in the UK Dementia Research Institute at Imperial, within the Neuroepigenomics Lab of Dr Alexi Nott, Department of Brain Sciences (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/a.nott).  The position is available initially for a period of 2 years, with potential for extension.

We are a globally leading multidisciplinary research institute of 800 staff investigating the spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders causing dementia, with laboratory-based research groups located at Imperial College London, University College London, the University of Cambridge, Cardiff University, Edinburgh University, and King’s College London.

This role is part of the UK Dementia Research Institute at Imperial College London, located in the Department of Brain Sciences.  Postdocs in the UK DRI at Imperial enjoy excellent career development opportunities with:

Duties and responsibilities: 

• Analysis and visualisation for large scale ‘omics datasets
• Lead computational projects exploring the transcriptome, epigenome and 3D chromatin architecture of brain cell types
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary research team
• Demonstrate an aptitude for an organised, methodical approach to your work

Essential requirements:

• Strong programming skills in R, Python, or other coding languages (e.g., C++, Matlab)
• Experience within a High-Performance Computing environment

• Research Assistant: A master’s degree or near completion of a PhD (or equivalent) in Computational Biology, Mathematics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research or industrial experience
• Research Associate: Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Computational Biology, Mathematics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research or industrial experience

The role is offered full time, initially for two years with the potential for extension. 

The post is based in the new UK DRI research labs on the White City Campus in West London. You will benefit from an active research (and social) environment in the Department of Brain Sciences, with additional research labs in the Burlington Danes Building on the nearby Hammersmith Campus.
