The Role

The Statistics group in the School of Mathematics, Statistics & Physics carries out world-class research in modern statistics and data science, with strengths in Bayesian methods, computation, biostatistics and spatial statistics. The NIHR Newcastle In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative ensures that better diagnostics are available as quickly as possible for patients, evaluating new diagnostics and working collaboratively with developers to generate a portfolio of evidence as they bring their diagnostics to the UK healthcare market.

We are jointly seeking a Research Associates/Assistant in biostatistics to work across a range of methodological and applied projects in the broad area of diagnostics, with a focus on Bayesian methods in the design and analysis of diagnostic studies.

You will work with academics and researchers across the two groups to develop and apply cutting edge Bayesian methods to design and analyse studies in diagnostics, with opportunities to contribute to the EPSRC-funded SaFEGen project developing adaptive and seamless designs in diagnostic test development, and ongoing applied diagnostic studies and projects. There is some flexibility in the post in terms of the balance between methodological research and applied statistics work.

The position has a fixed duration of 33 months.
