The School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Huddersfield are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Sustainable Living and Place-Making to support the development and delivery of research projects concerned with community-led sustainable living and place-making.

The School of Arts and Humanities, one of the largest of its kind in the UK, is driven by a collaborative approach that takes place through initiatives such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Temporary Contemporary and the Huddersfield Literature Festival developing outcomes on a regional, national, and global scale.

As Research Fellow in Sustainable Living and Place-Making, you will form part of dynamic multidisciplinary teams which focus on innovative contemporary practice and research including architecture, built environment, reuse of unoccupied properties; local climate design; ‘green’/’blue’ features of built/natural environments; and nature-based solutions to tackle socio-environmental challenge.

Detailed knowledge and understanding of at least one sustainable environment related area and of associated research techniques is essential.

As Research Fellow in Sustainable Living and Place-Making, you will be expected to play a significant role in stimulating and managing a portfolio of innovative pilot and demonstration projects and carrying out associated applied/action research and evidence support research. The projects involve a range of partners from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors and involve learning through place- or sector-based interventions around key (societal) challenges. Part of your role will be to liaise with partners to develop existing projects and to generate ideas for, and take forward, new innovation projects.

You will be joining a dedicated, passionate, and forward-thinking team and will be expected to demonstrate excellence in your work, which will be supported through personal development plans.
