The purpose of this role is to contribute, under the supervision of (Senior/Principal) Research Fellow, to developing, fundraising for, conducting and managing policy-relevant, high-quality and innovative research, policy advice and public affairs in the field of development finance, focusing among others, on

  • Private capital mobilisation in advanced markets as well as emerging and developing economies
  • Local currency lending and FX risks, as well as local capital markets development
  • Development finance institutions and non-sovereign operations of multilateral development banks: business models, strategies and operations including use of blended finance
  • The geopolitics of development finance,  bilateral donor reforms and strategy, transformations of the development and climate architectures, including decolonisation and localisation efforts
  • OECD ODA methodologies and statistics, including development effectiveness
  • Multilateral development banks (especially sovereign-focused) strategies and operations (including standards and safeguards)
  • Concessional funds’ replenishment, operations and performance

Main responsibilities

  • Research and analysis: Providing specific technical inputs to ongoing research projects such as literature reviews, interviews, quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and presentation.
  • Funding: Contribute to the development of research proposals, expressions of interest and full project proposals.
  • Project Management: Under the overall direction, liaising with and reporting to donors, organising interviews and note taking, managing consultants and the inputs of other project partners.
  • Dissemination: Organising meetings series and (multi-)media outputs from research projects.

Essential

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • A degree and/or post-graduate degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Economics, Finance, Accounting, Political Science, Law, International Development)

Experience

  • Experience in producing research outputs
  • Proven ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data including with Stata and Nvivo

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate successfully and cultural awareness
  • Excellent organisational skills and planning

Senior Researcher Officer

Essential

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • A degree and post-graduate degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Economics, Finance, Accounting, Political Science, Law, International Development
  • Active knowledge of key international financial institutions and their respective role

Experience

  • Proven ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data, including with Stata and Nvivo, and experience in using OECD DAC CRS
  • Significant experience working on policy, whether as a policy researcher, advisor or civil servant.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate successfully with a wide range of people and cultural awareness
