Job Description

14 month maternity cover contract, full time 37.5 hours/week

Shifts are routinely 8.30am-5pm (TBC with successful candidate)

Our nurses are required to cover one weekend shift per month, paid as overtime.

The Opportunity:

We have a rare opportunity for a registered veterinary nurse to join our Dick Vet Rabbit and Exotic Practice. We provide medical and surgical veterinary care for small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates.  As part of your role, you will also spend time in other services, including with our canine and feline general practice, as well as specialist services. This is to ensure that a transferable skillset is maintained and promoted.

At the HfSA, we are open to emergencies 24/7 and offer a friendly and supportive working atmosphere, with a strong tradition of research and innovation. We value our team of nurses highly, offering excellent education and development opportunities.

If you love everything from hamsters and rabbits, to geckos and iguanas, to budgerigars and badgers, we welcome all enthusiastic candidates to apply. We have a full training programme for all new team members where you will work alongside our skilled staff while you learn the ropes.

As Vet Nurses have contractual overtime of 2.5 hours per week on top of the standard 35 hours, the annual salary range for Grade UE06 will raise to £35,573 – £41,206 (pro-rata for part-time).

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Being an RCVS registered veterinary nurse is essential.
  • Excellent organisational and communications skills are essential.
  • Keen dedication to teaching the next generation of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses is essential.
