Job title: Saturday Library Assistant (Chatham Community Hub)

Job description: We are looking for a Saturday Library Assistant to join our Library Service at Chatham Community Hub.

The main focus of the post will be working as part of a team and supporting the day to day running of the Libraries. To shelve returned items in the correct alphabetical or numerical sequence as and when required, issue and discharge books and other items, ensuring that fees and charges are levied where appropriate, Repair and maintain all types of library materials and to undertake general duties when required to support service provisions. To offer a polite helpful and efficient service to customers at all times with emphasis on a positive attitude to customer care. Good communication and listening skills together with a flexible attitude to working patterns, the ability to manage personal workloads. Ensure public areas are maintained to the levels set down in the Quality Standards and to undertake general duties as required supporting service provision.

You will assist in maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to all Health & Safety policy guidelines. The post will have a commitment to equality and diversity, accepting differences and treating everyone fairly in accordance with the equal opportunities policy.

The post requires strenuous activity as you will be standing for long periods of time.
